Glanbia Nutritionals recommends that you mix the powdered products with water. Why?
First, Provon® Revive is designed to be the complete recovery solution when reconstituted with water.
Second, the use of milk significantly alters the nutritional profile of the product and the casein content in milk is absorbed slower into the body which impacts recovery.
(back to top) 5. How much protein do I need?
The RDA for protein in normal individuals is 0.75g/kg/d. For example a 70kg person would require 52.5g of protein per day to meet their minimum requirements. However, active individuals have higher protein needs than normal individuals.
Endurance athletes require 1.2-1.4g/kg/d. Examples include runners, cyclists etc.
Strength athletes have an even higher needs: 1.4-1.8g/kg/d. Examples include rugby players, weightlifters and bodybuilders.
As a result, achieving adequate protein intake is critical for athletes.
(back to top) 6. What are the best sources of protein?
The biological value of animal proteins is greater than that of plant proteins e.g. red meat (beef, lamb), white meat (pork, chicken), fish and dairy protein. This means that they are more easily digested, absorbed and converted to muscle tissue.
Dairy proteins (casein & whey) are particularly well used by the body and have the highest biological value of all protein sources. Whey protein is even more rapidly absorbed than casein making it an ideal source of protein for the post-exercise recovery period supplying branched-chain amino acids rapidly to the recovering muscle. (back to top) 7. What is the source of protein in Provon® Revive?
Provon® whey protein isolates are the main source of protein in Provon® Revive. Provon® whey protein isolates from Glanbia Nutritionals are premium quality whey protein isolates derived from sweet dairy whey. The whey proteins have been extracted in a highly purified, undenatured form using membrane technology called Cross-flow Microfiltration (CFM).
Provon®'s excellent nutritional properties combined with its high solubility, improved flavour and unique functionality makes it the ingredient of choice for a variety of applications. Provon® 290 is an agglomerated form of Provon®®. This process enables the protein to disperse easily in water.
